The rule in short
Based on the Act on Residence of Foreigners (No. 404/2011, as amended). Always check your own situation with the foreign police.
An application for long-term residence must include proof of Slovak at A2 level or higher.
The exam usually covers reading, listening, grammar, writing and a short interview. You need at least 70 % of the points to pass.
Only registered language schools and public universities run the exam. Fees are usually 80–180 €. We prepare you; we are not an exam centre.
The requirement applies to long-term residence (dlhodobý pobyt) only. Temporary residence and permanent residence for five years or for an unlimited time need no language exam. Some applicants are exempt, for example people under 14 and those who studied in Slovak. Full rules and exemptions at the IOM Migration Information Centre
